Focus: Health, Artificial Intelligence, Data, Innovation
By making smart use of data and AI, Gerty works with regional partners on developing new insights into health and care. Together they help residents of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area (and beyond). By preventing disease, ensuring that people stay healthy for as long as possible, and by reducing disparities in health and life expectancy. Health data can make an important contribution to this. As well as strengthening the Life Sciences & Health Ecosystem and driving public-private partnerships, such as the Health Data Infrastructure and Smart Health Amsterdam initiatives.
Gerty has worked as an investment manager Life Sciences & Health at various investment funds, including the ROM InnovationQuarter and BioPartner Startup Ventures. She has also worked for the Advisory Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (AWTI) and the Amsterdam Science Park. She is a judge for the LSH Take Off programs of the Dutch Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and a mentor at the Ace Incubator.
“Health has an enormous impact on individuals and society. This has also become apparent during the pandemic. Through the smart use of new technologies and innovative collaborations, we can tackle the major challenges that we face in the field of health. Both in prevention & lifestyle, and medical care, diagnostics and drug development.”
