By making smart use of data and AI, Gerty works with partners from the region on new insights into health and care. They help prevent illness and ensure that residents of the Amsterdam metropolitan region (and beyond) remain as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Health data can make an important contribution to this. It is also important to strengthen the Life Sciences & Health Ecosystem and to boost public-private partnerships such as the Health Data Infrastructure (GDI) and Smart Health Amsterdam initiatives.
Gerty has worked as an investment manager for Life Sciences & Health at various investment funds, including the ROM InnovationQuarter and BioPartner Startup Ventures. She has also worked for the Advisory Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (AWTI) and Amsterdam Science Park. She is a jury member for the LSH Take Off programs of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and a mentor at the Ace Incubator.
“Health has an enormous impact on individuals and society. This has also become apparent during the pandemic. Through the smart use of new technologies and innovative collaborations, we can tackle the major challenges that we face in the field of health. Both in prevention & lifestyle, as well as medical care, diagnostics and drug development.”
