Hacking Health Amsterdam: from smart ideas to real healthcare solutions

In April 2019, the very first Hacking Health Amsterdam was organized initiated by the Amsterdam Economic Board, SIGRA, Amsterdam UMC, HVO Querido and FRIZ! & Gloedmakers. The hackathon contributes to the challenge for health that by 2025, inhabitants of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area will have gained two healthy life years. An objective that can only be achieved by improving health and care in the Amsterdam metropolitan area. Among other things, by focusing on prevention, connection between demand for care and care provision, disruptive solutions from creative thinkers and the implementation and use of technology and data within care.

Nowhere else in the Netherlands has the Health Hackathon brought together so many different parties in healthcare and well-being for the citizen. This created a unique opportunity to enter into collaborations that blur the boundaries between different parties around the citizen. Patients, care and welfare professionals, designers, programmers and entrepreneurs worked together in one weekend on the wonderful objective “healthy and happy Amsterdammers”.
