Within the theme of Clean Region, board members and other partners from the network connect in coalitions. In the long term, we work towards a clean and sustainable industry with access to affordable energy and (strategic) resource availability.
In February, we started with an Executive kick-off for the Clean Region theme. Together with a select group of executives, we chose priorities that we are developing into concrete projects. These contribute to our vision for the Amsterdam region. They were widely supported during the network-wide kick-off in April. Board members from the municipality of Velsen, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, Port of Amsterdam, Province of North Holland, Rabobank, and VNO-NCW are taking the lead in this theme.
We are continuing to work on two topics in follow-up sessions:
One regional proposition regarding the industry
A strong, sustainable industry is essential for our regional economy and business climate. We aim to achieve a strategic balance between economic development and sustainability in the Amsterdam region from a single narrative. This will make the region more attractive and position it as a leader in circular industry.
Control over critical raw materials
Our industry and energy transition depend on scarce and geopolitically sensitive raw materials. By gaining better insight into these materials and opting for circular chains, alternatives, and regional recovery of materials, we increase our strategic autonomy and reduce dependence on external suppliers.
