Pacmed, PAVA or Rezolve: who offers the best healthcare innovation?
Three groundbreaking healthcare innovations have been selected to participate in the regional preliminaries for the National Zorginnovatieprijs 2025. They might win the prize for the most innovative scale-up in the field of healthcare and wellfare.
The care innovators have been selected from a large number of entries, from North Holland, Flevoland and Gooi and Vecht region. They will compete in the regional preliminary round for a final place for the National Care Innovation Award 2025.
These are the regional nominees
PAVA
PAVA uses WiFi sensing technology to monitor movement, location and sleep of residents in care facilities. This system is designed to ease the workload of care staff and increase healthcare quality without storing privacy-sensitive data.
Rezolve Medical with Rise
Traditional ankle foot orthoses (AFOs) have high failure rates due to discomfort and stiffness. Rezolve Medical’s Rise AFO solves this with a revolutionary design. It exerts force through the shoe, rather than the foot. This 3D printed, personalised solution provides optimal support with natural freedom of movement.
Pacmed Critical
Pacmed Critical has an AI decision support tool for the Intensive Care physician, for better care and more efficient utilisation of ICU beds. By leveraging hospital data, it enables better healthcare workflows for medical decision support, capacity forecasting and task automation.
‘For innovation in healthcare, start-ups and scale-ups are indispensable. Through the Zorginnovatieprijs preliminaries, Zorg2040 partners offer a stage to the showpieces in our region’
– Coalition manager Gerty Holla (Amsterdam Economic Board)
In it to win it?
In addition to all the honour, attention and recognition, there is a lot at stake for these entrepreneurs. The regional winner will participate for a year in Amsterdam Economic Board’s partner network, free of charge. And most importantly, they will advance to the finals on 13 March 2025, during the Health Valley Event. On 9 April the finalists will be on stage during the Zorg & ict congress. Prince Constantijn van Oranje will then host the award ceremony, with an extra festive, orange touch. An excellent opportunity for entrepreneurs to accelerate their innovation.
‘Zorg2040 partners had the difficult task of selecting the best entries. The three nominated companies are innovative, have a compelling and scalable business model and can make a lot of impact in healthcare’
– Business developer Linze Rijswijk (ROM InWest)
What is the preliminary round?
The three entrepreneurs will pitch their innovation in front of a professional jury and the Zorg2040 partners. This will take place during a Boardroom Pitchevent on January 21, 2025. The professional jury consists of: Anna van der Hulst (GGD Amsterdam), Arianne van Lavieren (Zilveren Kruis), Jenny Tsin (Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland) and Patrick van Eekeren (M&I/Partners). The Zorg2040 partners are: Amsterdam AI, Amsterdam Economic Board, Rabobank, ROM InWest and Sigra. Together they have been organizing successful Zorg2040 meetings for years, including the regional preliminary round of the Zorginnovatieprijs.
