A Health Impact Bond (HIB) provides an innovative financing method for preventive measures. External investors initially bear the financial burden and risk of implementation. They make agreements with governments and/or insurers for reimbursement, based on cost-effectiveness. Post-paid, and without risk.

The Health Impact Bond (HIB) initiative for fall prevention was completed in late 2017

The initiative has been consolidated through a broad exploration among various funders, implementers, accompanying parties, regional and national governments, insurers and knowledge institutions. Amsterdam Economic Board brought them together and guided the coalition building.
