By |2024-06-27T16:24:21+02:001 March 2021|News|

The Board is organizing a Purchasing Track that started in November. The aim by the end of 2021 is to have a sustainable impact for at least 10% of the facilities' purchases of each organization, and at least 50% by 2025. To this end, a diverse group of participants will start making a facility purchasing process sustainable in their own organization. Think of work clothing, catering or ICT. In sessions they can share experience and knowledge with colleagues from other organizations. In this way we build a network and we make an immediate impact. This article provides an overview of sources and further information to get started immediately with purchasing with the impact of ICT. It is based on the report (in Dutch) Naar een circulaire keten voor ICT-hardware, by the Utrecht Sustainability Institute, funded by the Amsterdam Economic Board.

In order to achieve the energy transition, we need to be smart with data. And that can also be done in a transparent and democratic way, think Marleen Stikker and Koen Overtoom. 'I think the system will tilt anyway, but I still find it exciting how we can achieve that.'

We will not make it by reducing alone. A future-proof, sustainable region requires a major system change and talent development also plays an important role in this. Melek Usta and Dick Benschop therefore believe that lifelong learning should be given more attention. "Isn't it crazy that you don't get an enormous dynamic at the MBO and HBO courses from people who are continuously updating their quality and competences?"

Entrepreneurs could learn more from each other about developing ethical technology. The Tada platform can act as a library for the exchange of knowledge.

Future plans for Tada

The power of Tada is that it is based on principles, so many people agree with it. At the same time, ethical principles are abstract. Yes, we want a digital city from everyone and for everyone. But how do you put that into practice? A lot of work has already gone into Tada's practical application, for example in partnership with the Municipality of Amsterdam. And now it is time to take the next steps to develop Tada in practice.

Energy saving mode makes data servers 10 percent more efficient

By |2023-06-06T15:24:17+02:0021 January 2021|News, News|

A coalition of companies and governments from the Amsterdam data center chain has achieved energy savings of 10 percent in recent months by running data servers in 'saving mode' without any loss of performance. With this data center energy saving coalition 'LEAP' (Lower Energy Acceleration Program) achieves its first demonstrable success in the goal of reducing energy consumption by 20 to 40 percent in the next three years. The positive results of the pilots at Schiphol, KPN, Rabobank and the North Sea Canal Area Environmental Service have now been actively shared with the parties in the LEAP coalition. The active sharing of the results, on the basis of information, instruction and training material, the so-called 'Happy Flow Manual', should make the transition to wide-ranging use of the energy-efficient eco mode quickly and efficiently applicable to any organization.

Young on Board: lifelong learning

By |2023-06-06T15:24:18+02:0019 January 2021|News|

We often talk about talent with and at Young on Board. Also as part of our 'triptych' sessions in which young game changers, experts from the field and board members have their say in three different sessions. The highlight of the triptych is an issue of one of the Board members that lies far in the future and is still very uncertain. A challenge that calls for a critical look and questions that can be quite abrasive. Young on Board enters into conversation and looks for the pain and the gain. Without offering immediate solutions, with extra food for thought (and sometimes material to ignite).
