Jacquill G. Basdew

Jacquill G. Basdew was born and raised in Amsterdam. He studied International Business & Management in Amsterdam and Paris, and inherited a love of art and culture from his mother from an early age. He now works in the arts and cultural field as a socio-cultural initiator, curator and supervisor.

Deeply rooted in the Dutch arts and culture sector, he is actively committed to multi-voicedness and structural change within cultural institutions. An emerging voice in the international arts field, he works for intergenerational connection, inclusion and social transformation.

Basdew’s positions include supervisor at the Kunstmuseum Den Haag and DutchCulture, and member of the Amsterdam City Curatorium. He has worked with prominent institutions such as Tate Britain and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Within Young on Board, he brings his perspective as an intersectional thinker, rooted in a broad social orientation. From that perspective, he reflects on how the metropolis of Amsterdam can develop at the intersection of economy, culture and valuable cross-pollinations with other sectors.
