What is your vision for the regional economy?

An important goal for the Amsterdam Economic Board is to contribute to sustainable earning capacity, resilience and inclusive prosperity in the region. And thus in the Netherlands and Europe. Our region contributes significantly to the gross domestic product. Public-private partnerships and innovation are essential for this. Collaboration is more successful in the region, because we’re close to each other.

The Amsterdam Economic Board brings together public and private parties from the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. Together we work on strategic economic themes that we have formulated as a collective for our region. In this way we make an impact on society and the economy.

Bringing together parties that would not normally meet each other also increases the ‘serendipity effect’: the chance that something beautiful and useful will unexpectedly arise.

We invest in our 3 themes and put our region on the map (inter)nationally. At the same time, we do not allow ourselves to be limited by regional borders. Each region has its own expertise, from quantum and medical technology in South Holland, agrifood in Foodvalley to high tech and semicon at Brainport in Eindhoven. That is precisely why we are closely connected to economic boards from other regions. By working together, we strengthen each other and help the Netherlands and Europe move forward.
