Responsible digital metropolis

In collaboration with our partners, we are working to make the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area a responsible, sustainable and inclusive digital region. We are autonomous and are in control of our data, instead of the other way around.

Our objective is to have technology responsibly support social issues in the region. The ecological footprint of our digital system should be minimal due to the circular use of materials and the smart, flexible use of sustainable energy.

Digitisation is bringing about social change. This raises questions about security, discrimination, influence and the power of technology companies. At the same time, digitisation puts pressure on our living environment and climate and has a major impact on the energy system.

In 2022, we will therefore be working on initiatives and programmes that initiate the transition to a sustainable and responsible digital region. This year we will draw up a regional data agreement based on sustainability and public values in cooperation with a wide range of stakeholders. The agreement will put sustainable and responsible data use more prominently on all the relevant agendas.
