Smart Health Amsterdam – The application of data is growing

The Board has been working on a healthier region for 5 years by cleverly combining medical knowledge with data and artificial intelligence. We have a lot of data that we cannot (yet) use to gain better medical insights, let alone apply it for residents in our region. By bringing governments, industry, knowledge institutions and healthcare providers together based on their expertise, we stimulate research into new insights and faster application of those insights in practice.

In 2019, the city council of Amsterdam ratified the plan for Smart Health Amsterdam, in which the Board strategy is largely incorporated. The city of Amsterdam, the Amsterdam knowledge institutes, health institutes and the Board also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation within the Life Sciences Cluster in the Amsterdam region and to develop an excellent starting position in the field of Artificial Intelligence & data. With these partners, and with the funds allocated, we will accelerate our focal points in 2020.

Role Board

Initiator, knowledge partner, implementer, mobilising parties into a coalition, initiating pilots and stimulating up-scaling.

In 2020, the focus will be on further strengthening the regional health, data & life sciences ecosystem & setting up a coalition for a medical data infrastructure to link data and scale-up initiatives that contribute to the longest possible healthy life by smart use of Artificial Intelligence and data.

“The future of health care is health. By combining data sources and by making smart use of AI, we work with our partners on new insights that help treat and prevent disease. This goal-oriented innovation attracts many companies and other organizations – and helps to keep us as healthy as possible for as long as possible. ”
